When the shock absorber is subjected to high loads the oil and gas in the outer chamber begin to mix, creating bubbles which lowers the viscosity of the oil. When the aerated oil passes through the valve it has less resistance which prevents the shock absorber from working properly. Foam Cell, with micro-cells of gas, fills the space in the shock absorber that would normally be occupied by air or nitrogen.
